Pep’s 3-in-a-row…

Barcelona clinched their 3rd league title in a row last night - their 21st overall, with a 1-1 draw at Levante’s Ciutat de Valencia stadium, a place where they also won the 2005 league title.

This league win ensures that coach, Josep Guardiola, has amazingly won La Liga in every single season he’s managed the Catalan giants (3), whilst also playing some of the most attractive, attacking football the world has ever seen.

A clearly delighted ‘Pep’ told reporters: “Now is the time to party, that’s what winning this title deserves”.  He added: “I also hope people have enjoyed watching us play –that would really be the best reward. The fact is we are the league champions and that’s because we deserve it. Once again this year we did an excellent job”.

In what was an intensely gruelling season following a World Cup, along with fierce rivals Real Madrid strengthening, the coach reserved special praise for his players. In typically modest style he stated: “I’d dedicate this to the squad. We’ve done things really well and that is all down to the players and the effort they’ve made. They are unique”.

Club vice-captain Xavi, who won a club record equalling 6th La Liga title (level with Guardiola), echoed his coach’s sentiments on clinching La Liga: “A title always feels good and this league has been very difficult to win. This team deserves so much merit. I want to congratulate all Barça supporters. The fans deserve it.
